#CMT# #/CMT# The system e.g. self-sustaining sensor system (RT), has an electronic main system (HS) designed in such a manner that the main system is changed between an active operating condition and a neutral operating condition, where the main system requires less energy in the neutral condition than in the active condition. A waking-up device (AU) is designed in such a manner that it produces a wake-up signal (US) for changing the main system to the active condition, where the wake-up signal is an acoustical and/or optical signal. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a self-sustaining system. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Self-sustaining system e.g. radio frequency identification-tag and self-sustaining sensor system. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The waking-up device does not require any power supply, so that the self-sustaining remains in the neutral operating condition for a long time without emptying an energy storage of the self-sustaining system, thus increasing the durability of the self-sustaining system. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The drawing shows a block diagram of a self-sustaining sensor system.
