<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polypropylene wax with a high melting point and high crystallinity, and application of such wax. <P>SOLUTION: This polypropylene wax has (a) a dropping point or softening point obtained by a ring and ball method of higher than 155°C, (b) heat of fusion of larger than 80 J/g and (c) DSC melting point of higher than 155°C. The wax of this invention is produced by reacting propylene at a temperature in the range of 40-140°C and under olefin partial pressure in the range of 1-50 bar in the presence of a metallocene compound and a cocatalyst. The wax contains less than 10% unsaturated terminal in its chain, and can be modified by, e.g. free radical graft reaction with a polar monomer, and is suitable, for example, as a dispersant for pigments, a dispersant for printing ink and surface coating or a toner, in the unmodified form; or for producing aqueous dispersion or as a binder and compatibilizer in a plastic compound in the modified form. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
