PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus capable of controlling whether to execute authentication corresponding to electronic mail to be transmitted in a settable authentication mode, to provide a program by which a computer executes the function, andto provide a recording medium in which the program is recorded. SOLUTION: A mail transmission control part 15 decides whether or not mail whose transmission request has been received fulfill fixed conditions. When fixed conditions are fulfilled, whether or not user ID and password for SMTP authentication are set to the item of an E-MAIL setting picture 32 is decided, and when the user ID and password are set, those user ID and password are transmitted to an SMTP server 20 by an SMTP control part 16, and SMTP authentication is executed. When the SMTP authentication is OK, a mail transmission control part 15 transmits mail to the SMTP server 20 by the SMTP control part 16.
