PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly durable electrophotographic apparatus which does not cause trouble such as image memory. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic apparatus includes: an electrophotographic photoreceptor in which potential attenuation measured under conditions [1] and [2] is 3 to 25V; and a second charging means disposed downstream of a transfer means but upstream of a first charging means. In the electrophotographic apparatus, time required to reach the first charging means from the transfer means is equal to or shorter than 0.4 s. The condition [1] is as follows: the photoreceptor is exposed under specific conditions when the surface potential of the photoreceptor is -600(V), and the quantity of laser beam when the surface potential of the photoreceptor after 180 ms from the exposure reaches -400(V) is represented by (A). The condition [2] is as follows: the electrophotographic photoreceptor is exposed for 2.5μs with the quantity (A) of laser beam when the surface potential of the photoreceptor is -600(V), and potential attenuation from 95 ms to 183 ms is measured.
