PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image having neither a transfer shift nor wrinkles with an image forming device which forms an image on sheet material by means of an electrophotographic printing method. SOLUTION: A loop amount detecting means which detects loop amount of the sheet material passing through a carrying guide member detects the loop amount of the sheet material at multi-stages of at least three stages with a plurality of threshold values. Therefore, the loop amount finely detected at the multi-stages is reflected on a driving control system to carry the sheet material while maintaining the appropriate amount of sheet material loop which passes through the carrying guide member, thus contributing to image forming without a transfer shift or wrinkles.
