PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device having high connection reliability against a fluorescent lamp, and having superior assembling workability. SOLUTION: On a plurality of electric connectors 11 mounted on a support plate 8, a cover 84 is mounted along the direction in parallel with a mounting direction Y1 of cold-cathode tubes 7. A pressed part 61 composed of an inclined cam face of a cover housing 19 as an operation member of the plurality of the first electric connectors 11 is pressed by a pressing part 88a composed of the inclined cam face of the cover 84. The plurality of the cover housings 19 are collectively driven to a second position.
