PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching means for transmitting drive without increasing the scale of an image recording apparatus nor increasing the load of a carriage in the image recording apparatus which transmits outputs from a plurality of driving sources to a plurality of driving parts respectively. SOLUTION: A printer part is equipped with: the carriage on which a recording head is mounted and which moves back and forth between an image recording area and a maintenance area; a first switching gear 71 and a second switching gear 72 which are driven to rotate respectively according to the outputs from two motors; a plurality of transmission gears 101 to 103 which are arranged in parallel so that each of them can be meshed with the first switching gear 71 or the second switching gear 72; a supporting shaft 73 which supports the first switching gear 71 and the second switching gear 72 to be slidable; and an input lever 74 which selectively positions the first switching gear 71 and the second switching gear 72 to any of a plurality of drive transmitting positions, and also changes the drive transmitting position of the first switching gear 71 and the second switching gear 72.
