PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact device for conducting optical inspection of a product of a tobacco processing industry which inspects an entire surface in order to reduce effect of foreign material in the optical inspection of the product. SOLUTION: The product 3 of the tobacco processing industry is subjected to an electromagnetic inspection, especially an optical inspection in at least one inspection zone 9 in which the product 3 is transferred in a periphery of at least one image detection device 5, wherein one image 31 of at least a part of at least one product 3 is recorded by at least one image detection device 5. A device 1 carries out the electromagnetic inspection, especially the optical inspection, of the product 3 of the tobacco processing industry by an analyzer 26, wherein the product 3 is transferred in the periphery of at least one image detection device 5 in at least one inspection zone 9. A machine for the tobacco processing industry inspects the respective images 31 of at least a part of the product to find at least one foreign material sign 21, 22, 23, 24 of the foreign material 11, 12, 13, 14 between the product 3 and the image detection device 5.
