PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device which reliably prevents damage and contamination of a surface of an objective lens. SOLUTION: When a lid sensor SW is set in a housing body 25 of a disk drive unit 21 and a lid 27 is opened, a coil of a focusing actuator is electrified and an objective lens 24 of the optical pickup device 20 is moved in a direction to be separated from an optical disk D and retracted to a location where the optical disk D, a finger, etc., do not contact in loading and removing.
