A dehydration system for water-containing substances which comprises a well for dehydration system having a contact zone for bringing a water-containing substance into contact with dimethyl ether, an injection pipe for dimethyl ether and an injection pipe for a water-containing substance, both of which are each connected to the well and open in the contact zone, an exhaust port for discharging dimethyl ether/water-containing substance after contact which opens approximately at the upper end of the contact zone of the well, and a separator for the separation of dimethyl ether from the resulting water-containing substance which is connected to the well by the exhaust port.
