<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge a degree of freedom of design by restraining a confliction over a space with other parts. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a power transmission device 1 which houses and supports in a distribution case 5 an orthogonal gear assembly comprising a ring gear and a pinion gear which engage perpendicularly with each other. In the power transmission device 1, the distribution case 5 is divided into a first case section 65 and a second case section 67 by a dividing surface 63 along a rotary axial center of the ring gear.
