PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life spark plug for internal combustion engines having excellent spark-wear resistance and oxidation resistance. SOLUTION: The spark plug 1 for internal combustion engines has a center electrode 2 and a ground electrode 3 forming a spark discharge gap 11 therebetween. At least one of the center electrode 2 and the ground electrode 3 has noble-metal chips 21, 31 joined thereto. The noble-metal chips 21 and 31 are formed of an Rh-based alloy that is composed mainly of Rh and contains at least one of Si, In, and Ce. The amount of Si to be contained is 1 wt.% or less, and the total amount of In and Ce to be contained is 2 wt.% or less. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
