PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding device and a molding method where, in transfer molding, when a molding material is extruded into a pot part via a plasticization mechanism, so as to be weighed, back pressure control is performed. SOLUTION: The molding device is composed of: a fixed upper mold 1 provided with a plunger PJ and also connected with a plasticization mechanism S; a movable intermediate mold 2 into which the plunger can be inserted, and provided with a pot part 4 storing a molding material M extruded from the plasticization mechanism; a movable lower mold 3 being in contact with/separated from the side of the lower face 2c of the movable intermediate mold 2 by a mold clamping cylinder T; and a cavity 5 composed between the movable intermediate mold 2 and the movable lower mold 3, and into which the molding material is press-fitted by the pressing force of the plunger PJ, and, provided that the back pressure upon the weighing of the molding material M extruded into the pot part 4 is defined as pb, the pressure of the molding material fed from the plasticization mechanism into the pot part 4 is defined as p, the flow diameter of the molding material which spreads within the pot part is defined as d, and the bore diameter of the die clamping cylinder is defined as D, the relation of pb=(d/D)2p is controlled in accordance with the change of the flow diameter d.
