PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect the turning-up movement position of a turning-up means for a tire member and to properly and surely carry out its turning-up. SOLUTION: In a tire molding apparatus for molding a tire by arranging the tire constructing member K on the outer surface side of a tire molding drum and turning up its side part by the turning-up finger 11 of the turning-up means, three dogs D different in length are fitted to the outside end part in the drum shaft direction of a finger moving means 20 constituting the turing-up means, and a proximity switch S detecting each dog D is installed. The three dogs D are formed in respective lengths corresponding to the waiting position of the turning-up movement, an intermediate position, and turning-up ending position. On the basis of the detection results of each proximity switch S detecting it, the turning-up movement position of the turning-up means is detected to judge a turning-up movement state, and the turning-up means is controlled to execute a turning-up process.
