<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of such situation that short circuit can not be detected, caused by the short circuit detection depending on the resistance components of the target of drive. <P>SOLUTION: This is equipped with upper and lower switching elements 1U-1W and 2U-2W for applying currents to motor driving coils 4U-4W, a control circuit 20, which starts the output of a control signal for current application by a current application command, predrive circuits 8U-8W and 9U-9W, which control the ON-OFF of the upper and lower switching elements by the control signal, and short circuit detecting circuits 10U-10W, which detect the shirt circuit to high potential side or low potential side power of contacts, based on the control signal and the voltage of the contacts 14 of the upper and lower switching elements. The shirt circuit detecting circuit detects the short circuit to lower potential side power of the contacts by switching on all the upper switching elements and switching off all the lower switching elements, and detects the short circuit to higher potential side power of the contacts by switching off all the upper switching elements and switching on all the lower switching elements, when there is no current application to the motor driving coils. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
