<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that stepwise jaggy is left when a slant line image portion is interpolated since an interpolation pixel value is determined from the absolute value of a difference between upper and lower pixels or from the absolute value of a difference between obliquely upper and lower pixels in IP conversion. <P>SOLUTION: An image signal generating method includes: setting radial directions a-l to an upper/lower line side around the interpolation pixel value Yx of a pixel 31 to be interpolated; using block lines (broken lines a-l) through the central pixel 31 to equally divide pixels y0-y19 near the pixel 31 into areas A, B; dividing the absolute value of a difference between the total of pixel values of pixels in the area A and the total of pixel values of pixels in the area B by the number of divisions to detect a maximum correlation value Tx from correlation values Ta-Tl positioned in respective directions with respect to the pixel 31; and defining a value based on the average of the pixel values Ya-Yl of nearby pixels in contact with the block line corresponding to a direction (x) as an interpolation pixel value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
