PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce size of a clearance required for letting a ratchet slide smoothly to prevent the occurrence of its play as much as possible even by taking not only dimensional tolerance of a locking device but also thermal expansion of the ratchet into account. SOLUTION: This locking device for the vehicle interior parts is constituted by letting the ratchet 24 assembled in a housing 29 slide against energizing force in the direction of return in the interlocking relationship with the operation of a lock knob 22 and disengaging an engaging part 26 of the ratchet from a mate side member to release locking. Width of the engaging part 26 of the ratchet 24 is set to be smaller than width of a main body part 25 of the ratchet 24. The engaging part and the lock knob are provided with fitting parts 23, 27 fitted mutually due to their mutual recessed and projecting shapes, respectively. This locking device is constituted to manage a clearance between the fitting parts in the direction of width of the ratchet in these fitting parts. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
