PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve easy viewing of a display of a specified temperature level at a base provided with an ironing surface for smoothing out wrinkles of clothes when a specified temperature level of the base is displayed at a space of limited width above a handle of an electric iron by dividing the specified temperature level in several stages (for example, three stages including "low", "middle", and "high") in accordance with the specified temperature of the base whether it is high or low. SOLUTION: An electric iron is provided with the base 11 equipped with the ironing surface 11a for smoothing wrinkles of textile products such as clothes, a switching button 14 for switching the specified temperature of the base 11, and a display section 15 for displaying the specified temperature level of the base 11 in accordance with the operation of the switching button 14. The specified temperature level is displayed on the display section 15 by switching the specified temperature level into a specified temperature level specified by an operation each time the switching button 14 is operated and displayed in a letter when it is displayed on the display section 15.
