PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique efficiently operating a rotary electric machine operable as an induction motor and as a synchronous motor. SOLUTION: The induction synchronous motor has a structure in which an IM rotor 7 rotating as an induction motor with a stator 1 is coupled to a PM rotor 6 rotating as a synchronous motor with the stator 1 via an output shaft 4. In the induction synchronous motor, a current for the induction motor for rotating the IM rotor 7 is superimposed on a current for the synchronous motor for rotating the PM rotor 6 to generate a composite current, and the generated composite current is applied to a coil 8 of the common stator 1.
