An apparatus is shown for storing relatively long, longer than 250mm, biologically contaminated items. The apparatus comprises a container 502 constructed substantially from card and a stand 501 for supporting said container. The container 502 has a relatively small substantially square shaped base and relatively high side walls to allow long contaminated items to be stored in a substantially upright position. The stand supports the container 502 in an upright configuration so as to allow long items to be stored in a substantially upright orientation so as to reduce the container 502 footprint while maintaining stability. Preferably the container includes a temporary seal in the form of double sided tape (fig 1, ref 105) that may be re-opened to allow additional items to be placed therein, and may also include a permanent seal for sealing the container prior to it being decontaminated. The temporary seal is preferably a metal plate. Additionally the stand is preferably Z-shaped, in which the shape is defined by an inclined member positioned between the base plate and the upper support member. |
