In particular when a hip-replacement is to be performed a three-dimensional image of the affected area is created in advance. Characteristic features are scanned with a navigated pointer and their location determined. At least two sets of fluoroscopic data are obtained for one or more regions of the body. Characteristic data are identified using the accumulated information of image processing and fluoroscopy. A three-dimensional image is created of the data obtained during the process.
