A monitoring device has two valves (22, 24) to shut off the part of the coolant circuit in which the object of the cooling is situated. A control for the valves is provided. This control has provision for time-offset switching of the valves. The first valve can shut the inflow, and is switched before the second valve, which is intended for shutting the return flow.
