An electrophoretic image display and driving method thereof are provided to maintain the texture like the paper by using the afterimage which gradually shows up even if the power source is shut down and by solving the phenomenon changing the white into the gray. An electrophoretic image display comprises an electrophoresis display panel and a drive circuit part. The electrophoresis display panel displays the image. The drive circuit part operates the electrophoresis display panel. The drive circuit part outputs the first and second refresh signals(310,330), the reverse phase implementation data signal(340), the image data signal(350) and a reset signal(320) to the electrophoresis display panel and displays the individual picture. The first and second refresh signals implement the respective black gradation and the white gradation during the signal supplying period in which the signal for displaying the individual picture is supplied. The reverse phase implementation data signal implements the reverse phase of the individual picture. The image data signal implements the individual picture. The reset signal breaks the direct current balance between the first refresh signal and the second refresh signal.
