METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DECODING OF RATE-COMPATIBLE-ICZZ

An apparatus for decoding irregular concatenated zigzag code supporting variable coding rate and a method thereof are provided to reduce complexity of decoding by decoding irregular concatenated zigzag code by H matrix. An irregular concatenated zigzag code has variable coding rate. If a signal of the irregular concatenated zigzag code is received, H matrix for supporting merge decoding is generated in a parity section(310). The irregular concatenated zigzag code is decoded by using the generated H matrix. When the H matrix is generated, a row of binary testing matrix is merged in the parity section(320).
