<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device for accurately discriminating the kinds of optical disks in the optical disk device which can handle various kinds of optical disks. <P>SOLUTION: The optical disk device is provided with; a motor 120 which rotates the optical disk 102; at least one light source 122 which radiates a plurality of light beams having different wavelengths; at least one lens 130 which converges the light beams on the optical disk 102; a spherical aberration correcting part 128 which can change spherical aberration states of the light beams; and an optical disk control part 40 which controls these operations. The control part 40 has a disk discrimination part 160 which discriminates the kinds of optical disks 102 by irradiating the optical disks with the light beams by using the light source 122 and the lens 130. The disk discrimination part 160 discriminates the kinds of the optical disks based on a first signal value, which is obtained from the light beams reflected from the optical disk 102 when the spherical aberration state of the light beams is set to a first state, and on a second signal value which is obtained when the spherical aberration state is set to a second state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
