A video encoding/decoding method and an apparatus thereof are provided to perform motion compensation by zoom-in/zoom-out correction during zoom-in/zoom-out of video data, thereby efficiently performing encoding/decoding processes. By performing one of down sampling and up sampling for a reference picture based on zoom-in/zoom-out information extracted from a received beat stream, at least one re-sampled reference picture is obtained(S310). A prediction picture is obtained by performing motion compensation of the re-sampled reference picture(S330). By adding the prediction picture and a decoded residual signal, a decoded picture is obtained(S340). |
