<p>In apparatus (1) for filling a tube (6) with loose particulate material, including a fall damping element (3), fixed to a support (2) and inserted together with the support into the tube, the fall damping element carries a net structure (4), permeable to the particles and formed from elastic netting elements (40). Independent claims are included for: (1) optical monitoring apparatus having an optical light guide, with an optical collector lens (optionally with a light source) at the inlet and a receiver connected to the outlet, and a fall damping element (3) as above; and (2) a method for filling a vertical tube (6) with particulate material, in which filling apparatus (1) as above is introduced into the tube sufficient far for the lowermost fall damping element (3) to remain out of contact with the tube base (61) then withdrawn from the tube in the opposite direction from the direction of fall of the particles.</p> |
