[Also in Division F2] A rectilinear bearing has a carrier 1 with guide means 2 connected thereto which is movable along a stationary support 3, the guide means being situated intermediate the carrier and the support; and has a magnet 4 carried by the carrier 1, which is attracted to the support 3 to retain the carrier and support in contact. In another embodiment a tool-carrier 7, Fig. 2, is carried by a rod 15 having rollers 18, 19 at its ends, the rollers being supported by rails 16, 17 attached to a support 9. When an electromagnet 10, carried by the tool carrier 7, is switched on, the carrier is held in the required working position. In a further embodiment, a tool-carrier 29, Fig. 3, has rollers 22 displaceable by levers 26 to allow a magnet 30, carried by the carrier 29, to abut a support 28 and thus lock the carrier in the required working position. |
