A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to improve response characteristics of the liquid crystal by realizing a circuit for modulating digital video data in a circuit structure in which a memory is unnecessary. A liquid crystal display device comprises the followings: a reference value extraction unit(51) for extracting the reference value of the (N-1)th frame data, wherein the N is a positive integer; a modulator(42) which compares the source data(SRGB) of the Nth frame with the extracted reference value, and selects modulation data for improving the response characteristics of the liquid crystal from a lookup table(52); and an FRC processing unit(53) which disperses the modulation data on the time for a plurality of frame durations.
