An image display device and a control method thereof are provided to generate a corresponding thumbnail image effectively and quickly with respect to a file having no thumbnail image information. A memory card controller(S60) provides pre-stored image data to an image display device according as a memory card is inserted. A controller(S70) performs a control operation so as to generate a corresponding thumbnail image according to whether thumbnail image information of image data provided through the memory card controller is present or not. The controller stores and deletes pre-generated thumbnail image. A thumbnail generating unit(S80) generates a thumbnail image of image data provided through the memory card controller according to a control signal of the controller. |
