A method for outputting information and a terminal using the same are provided to output information designated for a specific area if a terminal enters the specific area, thereby providing various and useful information with regard to the specific area. It is sensed whether a terminal enters a specific area(S420) according as the terminal enters the specific area(S410). The terminal determines whether information designated about the specific area exists(S430). When the information exists, the terminal receives the information from an information providing server by using a wireless communication unit(S440). The terminal performs an alarm operation(S450). The terminal outputs the received information through an output unit(S460). The terminal determines whether a broadcast signal is being outputted through the output unit(S470).
