An endoscope (1) having an insertion section (3) provided with a distal end section (10), an objective lens (15a) provided at the distal end section, an illumination lens (16a) provided at the distal end section, adjacent to the objective lens, and emitting illumination light from a light source (5), and a wall section (14 (35)) provided between the objective lens and the illumination lens and blocking the illumination light. The endoscope can provide a sufficient illumination area for an imaging area with a wide field of view, can provide an excellent endoscope image, and can have a form with a small diameter.
