A tooth adapter (100) having an elastomeric clamp assembly (400) and a metho d for using the same are provided. The system includes a tooth adapter (100) having a first end (102) operable to receive a removable tooth point (200) a nd a second end (104) having an upper blade (106) and a lower blade (108), the upper and lower blades at least partially defining a cavity (118) configured to receive a tooth horn (300). An upper insert (120) is configured be dispos ed at least partially within an orifice (110) in the upper blade (106), and a lower insert (122) is configured to be disposed at least partially within an orifice (112) in the lower blade (108). A wedge member (124) having an elastomeric portion (128) disposed between its first (134) and second faces (132) is positioned at least partially within the cavity (118), through a sl ot in the tooth horn (300), such that when a fastener is used to couple the upp er and lower inserts (120, 122) through the slot in the tooth horn (300), the first face (134) of the wedge member (124) engages the tooth horn (300) and second face (132) of the wedge member (124) engages the upper and lower inserts (120, 122), forming a rigid coupling between the tooth adapter (100) and the tooth horn (300).
