The switch has a rib-box shaped adapter (C) for starting a three-phase bus bar system comprising bus bars (L1-L3). Outer projecting suspension catches are provided over a base (10) of the adapter. A recess for accommodating a plate element (2) is provided at the base of the adapter, where the plate element supports a protection element (7). An opening is located at the plate element for leading through the catches, and the plate element is alternatively inserted into the catches at two bus-bar distances.
