An apparatus for processing radio broadcasting signal and a method thereof are provided to prevent audio mute of a surround channel by outputting one audio signal to the surround channel according to a result comparing audio signals of a right and a left channels. A comparator(20) compares a left channel audio signal of a received radio broadcasting with a right channel audio signal of the received radio broadcasting. If the left channel audio signal and the right channel audio signal are the same for fixed time, a controller(18) outputs one among a left channel audio, a right channel audio, and a center channel audio by a surround channel. A switch(21) is installed in an output terminal of the surround channel, and selects one among the left channel audio, the right channel audio, and the center channel audio. |
