The needle has a hollow shaft possessing a shaft volume diameter (6). A hollow tip area (5) includes an opening volume diameter (17), where a value of the opening volume diameter is larger than a value of the shaft volume diameter. A narrow region (16) is provided between the hollow shaft and the hollow tip area, where a volume diameter of the narrow region is 1.5 to 3 times smaller than the shaft volume diameter. The volume diameter of the narrow region is 2 to 4 times to smaller than the opening volume diameter. The needle is subjected with ultrasonic energy. An independent claim is also included for a phacoemulsification performing device, comprising a control unit.
