MOBILE TERMINAL AND METHOD FOR CONNECTING EXTERNAL DEVICE THERETO

A portable terminal and an external device connecting method capable of easily managing multimedia contents between the portable terminal and the connected external device are provided to offer a connection mode between the external device connected to the portable terminal. A portable terminal is connected to an external device such as a personal computer with a USB(S61). A stand-by screen is converted into a screen which firstly shows with the external device to convert the connected mode into an MTP(Media Transfer Protocol) mode(S62). If the MTP mode connection is failed, the guideline which shows that connection was failed the display unit screen is displayed. If the MTP mode connection is failed, the portable terminal attempts in order to connect to the personal computer as the connected mode which is not MTP mode.
