MULTI-TYPE AIR CONDITIONER AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

A multi-type air conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to control the capacity of a compressor according to the automatic determination on long or short piping conditions. A control method for a multi-type air conditioner includes the steps of controlling suction pressure of the compressor to reach target low pressure(320,330), comparing mean evaporation temperature of an indoor heat exchanger with target evaporation temperature(350), and correcting the target low pressure according to the comparison result(360-380), wherein the target low pressure is decreased for long piping if the mean evaporation temperature is higher than the target evaporation temperature, increased for short piping if lower, and kept without change for middle piping if equal.
