<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium having excellent sensitivity and recording speed, capable of highly setting contrast after recording and suitable for binary recording. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording medium has a recording layer 3 formed by using an antimony (Sb) oxide based phase separation recording material (Sb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5-δ</SB>) having a prescribed unfixed ratio δ and protective layers 4 for functioning as thermal interference layers and protecting the recording layer 3 on a substrate 2.
