<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in an existing handwriting input systems, transmission circuits for transmitting an ultrasonic signal and an electromagnetic signal are respectively provided in an electronic pen, so that power consumption is increased and, a continuous operation time is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: An LC resonant circuit of an electronic pen transmits an electromagnetic signal and an ultrasonic signal of the resonant frequency simultaneously, and a signal reception part shares at least one of reception circuits for detecting the reception of the ultrasonic signal as a reception circuit for detecting the reception of the electromagnetic signal.
