PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability at securing the sealing performance of each of layered flow channels in a heat exchanger comprising the flow channels in a layered state. SOLUTION: In the heat exchanger 100, the side face of a plate unit 110 constituted by stacking a prescribed number of sheets of intermediate plates 116 between an uppermost plate 112 and a lowermost plate 115, has the barrel shape by being curved to an outer side in such a state that a convex degree is gradually increased toward a central region in the plate stacking direction. The curving to the outer side of each of plates constituting the plate unit is caused by the deformation of each plate in a state of extending to a side by a pressing force received along the plate stacking direction to join and fix each plate to the top face of the convex in a manufacturing process. In the heat exchanger 100, the plate unit 110 is surrounded by both side plates along the plate stacking direction in such a state that recessed wall faces 132, 142 of the side plates 130, 140 are closely kept into contact with the barrel-shaped side face of the plate unit 110.
