PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device with a rotating speed detector, having reduced cost while improving the sealing performance of a detecting part. SOLUTION: A pulser ring 23 has a base 22 consisting of a cylindrical portion 22a formed from a steel plate with pressing work and externally fitted to an inner ring 5, and a rising plate portion 22b extending from the cylindrical portion 22a outward in the radial direction. A magnetic encoder 19 is attached to the side face on the inner side of the rising plate portion 22b. The magnetic encoder 19 is arranged on the inward side of a bearing beyond a seal 9 on the inner side and externally sealed. The base 22, not subjected to roughening treatment, is set in a range of Ra 0.2-0.6 as the surface roughness of the steel plate as a raw material remains unchanged. This produces desired close-contact strength and reduces working manhours and cost with no need for roughening treatment such as shot-blasting work. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
