BLACKLIGHT UNIT AND IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS EMPLOYING THE SAME

A backlight unit and an image display adopting the same are provided to remove the problem of arcking and anode voltage shielding and reduce the manufacturing cost by having a simple structure. A backlight unit(10) comprises the followings: a base substrate(11) and transparent substrate(12) which are arranged so as to face each other; a cathode electrode(13) and the first gate electrode(15) which are arranged so as to be alternated on an upper side of the base substrate; an emitter(14) which is formed at an edge of the cathode electrode facing the first gate electrode; an insulating layer(16) which is formed on the cathode electrode and the first gate electrode; the second gate electrode which is formed on the insulating layer(17); and a fluorescent layer(18) which formed in the bottom surface of the transparent substrate; and a hole which is formed at a region corresponding to the emitter on the insulating layer and the second gate electrode.
