摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device capable of selecting an appropriate white balance coefficient, and to provide a control method. SOLUTION: The imaging device 100 is provided with: an imaging element 102 having R, G and B pixels provided with a color filter and W1 and W2 pixels provided with color filters; an AF circuit 105; a white balance detection circuit 106; a white balance correction circuit 107; and a CPU 108. A white balance coefficient is calculated in an entire screen and each division area of image data picked up by the imaging element 102. Further, a brightness signal Y is calculated from an R pixel value, a G pixel value and a B pixel value corrected by the white balance coefficient in the entire screen and each division area. In addition, a first difference value between the brightness signal Y calculated in each division area and an average value of W pixels is compared with a second difference value between the brightness signal Y calculated in the entire screen and the average value of the W pixels to select a white balance coefficient of a division area of the first difference value smaller than the second difference value.
