PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal emulator that enable a user to refer to real time data and a plurality of log data simultaneously, and to provide a control method therefor. SOLUTION: A memory 206 saves real-time data received from a computer 1 as log data. A main control part 202 sets at least one real time data display area and a plurality of log data display areas to be arranged on the display screen of a monitor 4. Real time data and a plurality of log data are formed in a two-dimensional array format in accordance with at least the one real time data display area and plurality of log data display areas where a data forming part 203 is set. A video output part 204 converts the real time data and plurality of log data in the two-dimensional array format into video data and outputs the converted video data to the monitor 4.
