PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide pitch-based staple carbon fibers which can give a heat-releasing material having high affinity with matrixes having a high heat-releasing property. SOLUTION: Provided are the pitch-based staple carbon fibers satisfying the following requirements (i) to (iv). (i) A mesophase pitch is obtained as a raw material. (ii) An average fiber diameter is 5-20μm. (iii) An average fiber length is 5-6,000μm. And (iv) surface pH is 3.0-4.8. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
