A satellite navigation apparatus for vehicles is provided to allow a driver to make a phone call and send a text message without operating a cellular phone while driving a car by using a navigation interface and a hands-free interface provided to a display unit. A satellite navigation apparatus(100) includes an antenna(10), a computing unit(20), an external connection interface(30a), a navigation interface, a display unit, and a controller(50). The antenna receives microwave signals from multiple GPS(Global Positioning System) satellites. The computing unit generates vehicle navigation information from the microwave signals. The external connection interface transmits/receives at least one of a data signal and a command signal to/from a cellular phone. The display unit provides a navigation interface and a hands-free interface. The navigation interface displays graphic information including the navigation information mapped to electronic map information. The hands-free interface performs making a call, receiving a call, sending a text message or a receiving a text message. The controller controls at least one of the antenna, the computing unit, the connection interface and the display unit.
