A method and an apparatus for providing photographing information are provided to obtain an optimum image during a photographing process of a stereo camera. A method for providing image photographing state information in a stereo camera comprises the following steps. A difference value between first and second images obtained by the stereo camera is calculated(250). The calculated difference value is compared with a preset reference difference value(260). If the calculated difference value is consistent with the reference difference value, image photographing state information is informed to a user through a predetermined mode(270,280).
