In a locomotive traction motor system employing D.C. series motors M1, M2 connected in series, field weakening resistors DR1 . . . DR4 are connected across the motor fields M1f, M2f in turn by closure of contactors in the order Cl, C3, C2, C4. The return to full field conditions is effected in the reverse order. There may be a number of such series-connected groups in parallel across the output of a diesel driven generator G with an equalizer EC connecting their mid-points. |
