PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation apparatus which is compact and is capable of separating and recovering fat and oil being less oxidized and therefore being reutilizable. SOLUTION: The separation apparatus 1 is one which is composed of a body part 5 having a cylindrical part 5a with a vertically extending axis and a cover part 7 formed on the top of the body part 5 and having an upwardly narrowing cross-sectional area and in which an upper chamber C and a lower chamber D which are formed in the chamber confined by the inside surface of the body part 5 and the inside surface of the cover part 7 and have a pore-containing member 10 as the boundary therebetween, wherein an inlet 6c for a treated solution containing fat and oil opens to the lower chamber D tangentially to the cylindrical part 5a, and the treated solution of a high specific gravity is discharged from a first outlet 8 connected to the lower part of the body part 5, and the treated solution of a lower gravity is discharged from a second outlet 9 formed on the top of the cover part 7, the first outlet 8 having a rising part 8a, and the height of the rising part 8a being higher than that of the second outlet 9.
